Description

Presence of absence is a profound concept observable in any object I examine. Everything surrounding us adopts the character of its owner, with memories persisting within. By removing the identity of colors and reducing them to their elemental essence, we can focus solely on memory itself.

Artist Biography

is a Lebanon born, visual artist whose impressionist practice is shaped by memory, perception, and philosophical reflection. Influenced by early life in the mountains of Lebanon and later by immersive exposure to Russian artistic culture during her time in Moscow, Hassan’s work reflects a sensitivity to light, rhythm, and emotional atmosphere. She works fluidly across soft pastels, oil, acrylic, ink, and charcoal, selecting materials in direct response to subject and concept. Her process begins with observation and sketching, accompanied by written reflections that crystallize her ideas, often informed by classical music and jazz. Beyond her studio practice, Hassan is engaged in artistic education and community-building; she founded Emeraude Atelier in Lebanon in 2018 and later established Emeraude Community: The Cognitive Perception of Art, through which she has led workshops for adult participants. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at Jaala Art Gallery in Japan, and she received the Al Ghorra Fine Art Award in Doha in 2024. Currently based in Qatar, Hassan continues to develop a practice that positions painting as a contemplative space where lived experience, music, and visual perception intersect.
