Artist Name: Abdulla Alsallat
Artist Bio:
is a Qatari visual artist whose practice is rooted in illustration, line based abstraction, and large scale public work. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration from the University of Brighton (2018), marking the formal beginning of his professional career, though his relationship with art was shaped much earlier through family influence and early exposure to drawing from childhood. Alsallat’s work is defined by a distinct and recognizable visual identity, developed through years of disciplined penmanship and confident line work. He works across paint pens, markers, ink, acrylic, and watercolor, navigating between structured illustration and free form drawing as a meditative process guided by rhythm and intuition. Influenced by a multicultural upbringing, Western hip-hop culture, album cover art, comic books, and artists such as Takashi Murakami, Eiichiro Oda, and John Higgins, his practice merges global visual language with Qatari cultural aesthetics. His work has been presented in significant public and institutional contexts, including mural collaborations with Qatar Museums at Msheireb (2021) and Old Doha Port in collaboration with Worldwide Walls and Qatar Museums (2023), as well as a year long artist residency at Fire Station, culminating in a solo gallery presentation (2023 – 2024). Through his practice, Alsallat approaches drawing as a lived, rhythmic act where memory, music, and movement converge into contemporary visual narratives.
